Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMASAYOSHI OKAMURA Sadly after a two-month hospitalization, Masayoshi Okamura passed away at the Concordia General Hospital on Sunday, February 17, 2008. He leaves to mourn, his wife Kiyo; daughters, Eileen, Sharon and Evelyn and son Gordon (Kathie); grandchildren, Carley and Thomas, and two brothers, Yoshiyuki and Tatsuo. Mas was predeceased by sisters Kimiye and Chiyeko and brother Yukio. Mas was born in Strawberry Hill, New Westminster, BC where the family operated a chicken farm until they were evacuated in 1942 to Manitoba. Four months later, his father passed away at an early age of 56 years, leaving Mas to support his mother and the family. He worked on the sugar beet farms and eventually learned a trade as a carpenter for various construction firms. In 1951 he married Kiyo and raised their family in Winnipeg. When he retired in 1987, he was enjoyed spending time in British Columbia. A reception will precede the funeral service, starting at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the reverend Fredrich Ulrich presiding. Cremation will follow the service.
